Quality of life &Living Beyond Expectations

Have you ever met a marathoner with developmental disability? Well Rafael & Tim are not only best friends, they are also both marathoners with developmental disabilities. Together they have finished 5 marathons (along with an aide who runs with them) To them ARC is a place to live & continue learning, friendships & lifelong memories These two guys not only want to run, but they want to do it in honor of their friends at ARC and to raise money for things like nature outings, field trips, basketball, bingo night, books...

Rafael and Tim have both overcome many obstacles in their lives. Tim, now a very sociable man, didn’t learn to talk until he was 7 years old. Rafael only learned to spell his name at 40 yrs of age. Life has been a marathon for the both of them and ARC has been along on this journey of growing and learning with them since they were pre-teens. As they age so do their friends and ARC is continuing to be devoted to promoting health and wellness for people with developmental disabilities.

Tim & Rafael have encouraged their friends to join them in becoming more fit and Angela & Antoinette have decided that they want to walk/run the full 26.2 miles with Team ARC. Angela & Antoinette may be the first women with Down syndrome to complete a marathon.

Team ARC is one of a kind. Caring people partner with ARC to run/walk events on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities, to raise funds for programs & advocacy/awareness. While Athletes with developmental disabilities join in the events as active members of the community and run/walk to strive towards their health & wellness goals and promote awareness in the community.
